Unbootable systems

Blue Screen of Death (BSOD)If your system suddenly becomes unbootable, continually reboots/restarts or displays a screen similar to that on the right, Caryford Computer System can attempt to restore your operating system and - if desired or deemed necessary - recover the data.

An unbootable system can be caused by a number of scenarios ranging from faulty hardware (usually memory/RAM or a video card) to poorly configured software, or the result of a virus or malware infection.

We will examine your computer and run diagnostic checks. We will then verify that all the components in your computer(s) are secure and that any cabling in firmly connected.

Once we have successfully restored your computer, we will then investigate as to why it failed in the first place. We will perform basic system maintenance, defragment your hard drive(s), check for malware (including viruses) and anything which may have caused the problem. If we feel that the system files on the hard drive has been permanently corrupted, we can optionally re-install the operating system.

Please note that - under no circumstances - can we be liable for data loss when we attempt to recover an unbootable system. We strongly recommend that you back up your data on a separate medium (e.g. DVD, on-line or an external hard drive) on a regular basis.

If you wish to use this service, please use this enquiry form. We will require as much information as possible when preparing an estimate so it is important that you have any documentation which came with your computer(s) to hand.
